Motor Bearing Failure
Motor Bearing FailureMotor bearing failure (emoji)
The rear bearing has failed causing damage to the bearing housing and melting the cooling fan from the drive shaft. Also, the lateral thrust has peeled back the front lipseal running sleeve but luckily it was caught before any further damage was done. We can recover this by bushing and re-machining the motor end housing, washing and stoving the motor windings to remove any metal fragments, then rebuilding the motor with new bearings and seals. Its always important to listen for changes the sound tour compressor makes, a change in tone, squealing or rattling should never be ignored, catching an issue early will reduce the cost of your repairs.
